SRINAGAR, India (AP) – Massive anti-India protests have erupted in
Indian-controlled Kashmir after paramilitary soldiers fired at a group
of residents, killing a teenage boy and wounding two others.

Residents
in Sopore, northwest of Indian Kashmir’s main city, Srinagar, say
paramilitary soldiers fired at a group of local residents hours after a
clash between rock-throwing protesters and government forces in the
town. The clashes and shooting by the paramilitary soldiers occured
late Thursday. The teenage boy died in the hospital early Friday.

An
official said that for the first time since violence erupted in Kashmir
two months ago, police have registered a case of murder against the
paramilitary soldiers involved in what appeared to be an unprovoked
attack.
